Former Van Halen members join forces with Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani.The debut album, which will be packaged in exclusive "heat sensitive" artwork, will be released on Friday June 5th by earMUSIC in Europe and on Redline Entertainment in North America. It will also be available online at iTunes and Napster (in the regions they serve). All other regions of the world to be announced.

New Kiss Album Sonic Boom To Hit Walmart In OctoberRussell Hall 08.18.2009
Kiss’s new album, Sonic Boom, will be sold exclusively at Walmart, Walmart.com, and Sam’s Club, the band announced yesterday (Aug. 17).
The 11-track disc, which is the group’s first studio album in 11 years, is the centerpiece of a three-disc package that also includes a re-recorded greatest hits CD and a live DVD shot in Argentina during the band’s recent KISS ALIVE 35 tour. The set will retail for $12 and will be in stores October 6.
“Sonic Boom may be the best new record we've done since Destroyer,” said Gene Simmons, in a prepared statement. “It is Rock And Roll Over meets Love Gun. The world’s biggest retailer had better get ready for the hottest band in the world and hire more cashiers before October 6."
To mark the album’s release, Kiss will stage a special KISS ALIVE 35 show at Detroit Rock City’s legendary Cobo Arena on September 25. The venue served previously as the setting for the series of shows that spawned the band’s classic 1975 album, Kiss Alive!
"Through all of the albums that are considered our classics, we tried to always find ways to give our fans extras that went beyond just the music," said Paul Stanley. "Besides our making the best KISS album in decades, Walmart has made it possible for us to include a bonus CD with 15 of our most famous songs and an additional live DVD …. In every sense, Sonic Boom is the ultimate return to classic KISS form.”
A snippet of the albums’ first single, “Modern Day Delilah,” has been posted on the band’s website. Pre-orders are set to start in September at Walmart.com.

Les Paul (nome artístico de Lester William Polfus; Waukesha, 9 de junho de 1915 - White Plains, 13 de agosto de 2009[1]) foi um guitarrista e pioneiro no desenvolvimento de técnicas e instrumentos musicais elétricos.
Começou a se interessar por música aos 8 anos de idade, quando começou a tocar gaita. Logo aprendeu banjo e posteriormente guitarra. Aos 13 anos de idade já era guitarrista de música country e já tocava profissionalmente.
Após participar de algumas bandas, Paul lançou seus dois primeiros discos em 1936: um deles com o nome de Rhubarb Red, e outro como músico da banda de Georgia White.
Após anos fabricando suas próprias guitarras e inovando com novos modelos e características de fabricação, cria uma das primeiras guitarras com corpo de madeira sólido. New York, NY...August 13, 2009...Les Paul, acclaimed guitar player, entertainer and inventor, passed away today from complications of severe pneumonia at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York, surrounded by family and loved ones. He had been receiving the best available treatment through this final battle and in keeping with his persona, he showed incredible strength, tenacity and courage. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the thoughts and prayers from his dear friends and fans. Les Paul was 94.
One of the foremost influences on 20th century sound and responsible for the world's most famous guitar, the Les Paul model, Les Paul's prestigious career in music and invention spans from the 1930s to the present. Though he's indisputably one of America's most popular, influential, and accomplished electric guitarists, Les Paul is best known as an early innovator in the development of the solid body guitar. His groundbreaking design would become the template for Gibson's best-selling electric, the Les Paul model, introduced in 1952. Today, countless musical legends still consider Paul's iconic guitar unmatched in sound and prowess. Among Paul's most enduring contributions are those in the technological realm, including ingenious developments in multi-track recording, guitar effects, and the mechanics of sound in general.
Born Lester William Polsfuss in Waukesha, Wisconsin on June 9, 1915, Les Paul was already performing publicly as a honky-tonk guitarist by the age of 13. So clear was his calling that Paul dropped out of high school at 17 to play in Sunny Joe Wolverton's Radio Band in St. Louis. As Paul's mentor, Wolverton was the one to christen him with the stage name “Rhubarb Red," a moniker that would follow him to Chicago in 1934. There, Paul became a bona fide radio star, known as both hillbilly picker Rhubarb Red and Django Reinhardt-informed jazz guitarist Les Paul. His first recordings were done in 1936 on an acoustic—alone as Rhubarb Red, as well as backing blues singer Georgia White. The next year he formed his first trio, but by 1938 he'd moved to New York to begin his tenure on national radio with one of the more popular dance orchestras in the country, Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians.
Tinkering with electronics and guitar amplification since his youth, Les Paul began constructing his own electric guitar in the late '30s. Unhappy with the first generation of commercially available hollowbodies because of their thin tone, lack of sustain, and feedback problems, Paul opted to build an entirely new structure. “I was interested in proving that a vibration-free top was the way to go," he has said. “I even built a guitar out of a railroad rail to prove it. What I wanted was to amplify pure string vibration, without the resonance of the wood getting involved in the sound." With the good graces of Epiphone president Epi Stathopoulo, Paul used the Epiphone plant and machinery in 1941 to bring his vision to fruition. He affectionately dubbed the guitar “The Log."
Les Paul's tireless experiments sometimes proved to be dangerous, and he nearly electrocuted himself in 1940 during a session in the cellar of his Queens apartment. During the next two years of rehabilitation, Les earned his living producing radio music. Forced to put the Pennsylvanians and the rest of his career on hold, Les Paul moved to Hollywood. During World War II, he was drafted into the Army but permitted to stay in California, where he became a regular player for Armed Forces Radio Service. By 1943 he had assembled a trio that regularly performed live, on the radio, and on V-Discs. In 1944 he entered the jazz spotlight—thanks to his dazzling work filling in for Oscar Moore alongside Nat King Cole, Illinois Jacquet, and other superstars —at the first of the prestigious Jazz at the Philharmonic concerts.
By his mid-thirties, Paul had successfully combined Reinhardt-inspired jazz playing and the western swing and twang of his Rhubarb Red persona into one distinctive, electrifying style. In the Les Paul Trio he translated the dizzying runs and unusual harmonies found on Jazz at the Philharmonic into a slower, subtler, more commercial approach. His novelty instrumentals were tighter, brasher, and punctuated with effects. Overall, the trademark Les Paul sound was razor-sharp, clean-shaven, and divinely smooth.
As small combos eclipsed big bands toward the end of World War II, Les Paul Trio's popularity grew. They cut records for Decca both alone and behind the likes of Helen Forrest, the Andrews Sisters, the Delta Rhythm Boys, Dick Hayes, and, most notably, Bing Crosby. Since 1945, when the crooner brought them into the studio to back him on a few numbers, the Trio had become regular guests on Crosby's hit radio show. The highlight of the session was Paul's first No. 1 hit and million-seller, the gorgeous “It's Been a Long, Long Time."
Meanwhile, Paul began to experiment with dubbing live tracks over recorded tracks, also altering the playback speed. Still, Paul and Ford maintained their iconic presence with their wildly popular television show, which ran from 1953-1960. In 1964, the couple, parents to a son and daughter, divorced. Paul began playing in Japan, and recorded an LP for London Records before poor health forced him to take time off—as much as someone so inspired can take time off.
In the 1977, Paul resurfaced with a Grammy-winning Chet Atkins collaboration, Chester and Lester. Then the ailing guitarist, who'd already suffered arthritis and permanent hearing loss, had a heart attack, followed by bypass surgery.
Ever stubborn, Les recovered, and returned to live performance in the late 1980s. Until recently Les continued to perform two weekly New York shows with the Les Paul Trio, even releasing the 2005 double-Grammy winner Les Paul & Friends: American Made World Played, featuring collaborations with a veritable who's who of the electric guitar, including dozens of illustrious fans like Keith Richards, Buddy Guy, Billy Gibbons, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and Joe Perry. In 2008, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame paid tribute to Les Paul in a week-long celebration of his life which culminated with a live performance by Les himself.
Les Paul has since become the only individual to share membership into the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Les is survived by his three sons Lester (Rus) G. Paul, Gene W. Paul and Robert (Bobby) R. Paul, his daughter Colleen Wess, son-in-law Gary Wess, long time friend Arlene Palmer, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A private Funeral service will be held in New York. Les Paul has since become the only individual to share membership into the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Les is survived by his three sons Lester (Rus) G. Paul, Gene W. Paul and Robert (Bobby) R. Paul, his daughter Colleen Wess, son-in-law Gary Wess, long time friend Arlene Palmer, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A private Funeral service will be held in New York. A service in Waukesha, WI will be announced at a later date. Details will follow and will be announced for all services. Memorial tributes for the public will be announced at a future date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Les Paul Foundation, 236 West 30th Street, 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001.

Page Says ‘No’ to Rock Band and Guitar Hero … Again!

Van Halen’s done it. Metallica and Aerosmith have done it. Hell, even the Beatles are doing it. But don’t expect Led Zeppelin to follow in those footsteps and lend their music to a video game anytime soon.
In a conversation with Starpulse.com, legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page shot down any possibility that the heavy metal kings would sign off on letting one of the two giants – Guitar Hero or Rock Band – use its songs for a video game.
Why? Page just doesn’t think Zeppelin’s music would work in such a format.
“Obviously, there have been overtures made to Led Zeppelin,” Page said, “but if you start with the first track on the first album, ‘Good Times Bad Times,’ and you think of the drum part that John Bonham did there, how many drummers in the world can actually play that, let alone dabble on a Christmas morning? There could be a lot of alcohol consumed over Christmas, and you still aren't going to get it.”
Page’s advice to aspiring musicians is to pick up a real instrument and learn it – just like the musicians they’re emulating in the video games.
“You'll see if you've got a passion to want to play the instrument, and that is a good initiation,” Page said. “From my experience, once I got a guitar that was relatively user-friendly, but not super-duper easy, I really came on as a guitarist, at that point. It helped. It wasn't a super-expensive guitar either, but something needs to steer you a bit, if you're playing an instrument that is really hard.”

O Black Crowes estourou internacionalmente há alguns anos com a faixa Remedy, e de lá para cá vem sempre gravando grandes álbuns de rock’n’roll, com muita influência setentista, como o último de estúdio, o ótimo By Your Side. Uma das primeiras coisas que sempre vinha à mente quando se ouvia um novo lançamento da banda era a influência (não cópia) latente de um dos maiores grupos de todos os tempos, o Led Zeppelin. Não é uma surpresa que Jimmy Page, que dispensa apresentações, tenha grande contato com o Black Crowes, mas sim é uma excelente surpresa que ele saia em turnê com eles e ainda lance esse maravilhoso Live at the Greek, gravado em uma das apresentações desta mesma turnê.
Logicamente o set list é de Led Zeppelin, e aí vem mais uma outra grande surpresa, pois você jura que é o próprio Led reformulado no ano 2000, com as clássicas composições que fizeram o nome da banda nos anos setenta, como Custard Pie, Heartbreaker e Whole Lotta Love... todas aqui em versões no mínimo fiéis às originais, tocadas com um feeling e uma energia contagiantes.
Page está ali, nos solos, nos riffs, nas viagens, parecendo ter seus 25 anos, mostrando entrosamento e disposição para ainda render muitos outros discos no futuro.
Um outro grande destaque do cd é a brilhante performance de Chris Robinson (vocais), que reproduz com muita habilidade todas as linhas vocais de Robert Plant, e com toda a personalidade, sem deixar a peteca cair por um só segundo.
Além dos maravilhosos clássicos já citados, este cd duplo ainda traz Your Time is Gonna Come, The Lemon Song e Celebration Day, entre outras. Intercalando com as músicas do grande Zeppelin, algumas outras covers foram incluídas, como a não menos boa Woke up this Morning, do mestre B.B.King.
Se já não bastasse tudo isso para fazer você comprar este lançamento, ele ainda traz uma parte de multimídia, onde, além de fotos dos shows, também clips de partes ao vivo são mostrados, fazendo qualquer ser vivo no mundo ter vontade de participar de uma apresentação dessas. Totalmente indispensável.

Led Zeppelin Tour On Again, According to John Paul Jones
This is almost exhausting.
But this time, the news comes straight from the horse’s mouth.
Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has confirmed the possibility, at least, of a Led Zeppelin reunion tour sometime next year. He also confirmed the band has been rehearsing with “odd” singers in case lead singer Robert Plant follows through with his apparent plans to bypass any reunion effort.
The comments came during a question and answer session at the Mansons Guitar Show this past weekend inside the UK’s Riverside Leisure Centre in Exeter. Specifically, Jones was asked about the possibility of another Led Zeppelin show, and he gave the following answer:
“As you probably know, Jimmy [Page], Jason [Bonham] and I are actually rehearsing and we've had the odd singer come in and have a bash. And as soon as we know – which we don't – we will let you know,” Jones said. “But, we really hope that something is going to happen soon because we really want to do it and we're having a lot of fun, actually, just rehearsing. Jason is actually tremendous ... he's really taking chances. He is a very brave man … every other drummer in the world was watching him thinking [at the reunion show] that could have been me. He’s creative and really fun.”
Jones continued, “We really want to do something and Robert [Plant] doesn't want to do this sort of thing, at least for the moment. I don't really know what his plans are. He is touring with Allison [Krauss] as you know. He really doesn't want to make loud music anymore, as we do. I mean, I love acoustic music, but it doesn't stop me from turning something up. And what we've done so far sounds absolutely fantastic. When it does come, it will come, and you'll know about it.”
Speculation of a possible Led Zeppelin reunion tour has run amok since the band’s one-off reunion show at London’s O2 Arena this past December. The show drew rave reviews, and may even show up in DVD format, according to Jones.
Plant, however, literally killed the notion of a full-blown reunion when he issued an “official statement” on his website that read, in part, that he “has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years … I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects.”
Plant just wrapped up a busy touring schedule with bluegrass legend Allison Krauss in support of the critically acclaimed Raising Sand. Recently, various reports – including Gibson.com – have put the vacant Zeppelin lead singer role in the hands of Myles R. Kennedy, the lead singer of Alter Bridge, although no official word has been released from the Zeppelin camp.

Todos sabem da minha paixão, pelo Led Zeppelin, desde muleque venho juntando muita coisa desses caras, LPs, CDs, Videos, oque aparece eu pego!!!
Essa caixa, Cabala, que estou disponibilizando, encontrei, já faz um bom tempo, no Lágrima Psicodelica, um dos blogs mais legais e ecléticos que tem na net, do meu amigo JohnnyF, são 8 discos com gravações não oficiais, ao vivo , de estúdio, ensaios e algumas que ficaram fora dos discos oficiais, vale a pena o download integral!

Este post é para os amigos que vão se deliciar com o Queen no Via Funchal.
THE COSMOS ROCKS primeiro álbum de estúdio do Queen + Paul Rodgers

A primeira coisa que você nota em The Cosmos Rocks, o muito aguardado primeiro álbum das lendas do rock Queen + Paul Rodgers, são as frases "todas as faixas escritas pelo Queen e Paul Rodgers" e "produzido e apresentado por Brian May, Paul Rodgers e Roger Taylor" (indicando que eles tocam todos os instrumentos, incluindo baixo - Paul e Brian se alternando -, caso você esteja se perguntando). Esse, obviamente, não é o caso de uma leve participação vocal de Rodgers, como algumas pessoas imaginariam que aconteceria quando os três se reunissem no estúdio.
Esse é um grande esforço em grupo: May, Rodgers e Taylor em uma união completamente democrática, compartilhando os créditos igualmente. A dedicatória do disco ao lendário líder do Queen 'Freddie Mercury' (você também verá agradecimentos a John Deacon e Paul Kossoff) mostra que os colegas de banda continuam sentindo a presença dele quase treze anos depois do último disco de estúdio do Queen.
Também é possível se perguntar como Rodgers - vocalista principal de todas as treze faixas do disco - se sente em relação a seu trabalho ser dedicado ao homem que ainda hoje é cultuado pelos fãs do Queen pré-morte de Mercury.
Mas, pensando bem, não é tão estranho assim. Afinal, Brian May e Roger Taylor nunca deixaram de reconhecer a forte presença que Mercury fornecia à banda no palco e as maravilhas de sua extraordinária criatividade no estúdio. Inclusive, ainda hoje eles reconhecem como sentem falta do 'querido Fred'.
No caso de Rodgers, Mercury sempre o considerou uma das melhores vozes de rock de seu tempo. É de conhecimento público que Mercury ia ao Marquee ou a qualquer outra casa de shows em Londres quando Rodgers estava se apresentando com sua banda Free. Mercury reconhecia o disco do Free Fire and Water como uma das maiores influências sobre o Queen. Além disso, Rodgers tem feito uma quantidade suficiente de shows esgotados como "Queen + Paul Rodgers" para saber que essa união dá certo. Bastava estar presente no show de aniversário de 90 anos de Nelson Mandela, no mês passado, para sentir o calor do público em relação ao set da banda.
Tudo faz sentido quando você ouve o que o grupo tem a dizer sobre as sessões de gravação:
"A gente se juntou e tocou, todos os dias, e muita coisa aconteceu, rolou uma química entre nós. É música boa e orgânica."
"Há bastante orquestração de guitarra e algumas de nossas velhas marcas-registradas, mas, na essência, você ouvirá os três de nós tocando. Pessoas tocando juntas de verdade no estúdio - não se ouve muito disso hoje em dia. Mas está lá no novo disco."
"Ainda são chamados de 'álbuns'? Eu nem sei. Mas esse realmente é, acreditamos, um Álbum no velho sentido da palavra - algo que você pode tocar e ouvir até o final, embarcando em uma jornada... Um desafio para o ouvinte colocar o seu dia em espera por uma hora, ou algo em torno disso, se deixando levar, vivendo uma experiência nova."
"Hoje em dia, parece que poucas pessoas têm isso em mente. Os CDs tendem a ser uma coleção de músicas, freqüentemente produzidas por equipes diferentes, reunidas em seqüência aleatória -, com a idéia de que, de qualquer forma, as pessoas trocarão a ordem das faixas em seus iPods. É claro que existe essa opção! Mas nossos professores foram os Beatles, Hendrix, blues + soul e... você sabe onde queremos chegar com isso."
Cosmos Rocks foi gravado e mixado no estúdio The Priory entre novembro de 2007 a agosto de 2008, com co-produção e engenharia de produção de Joshua J Macrae, Justin Shirley-Smith e Kris Fredriksson. É o primeiro álbum de material novo gravado pelo Queen + Paul Rodgers desde que eles colocaram o pé na estrada em 2005.

O protótipo começou quando John Belushi e Dan Aykroyd cantaram King Bee num capítulo da primeira temporada do Saturday Night Live. Três anos depois os personagens dos irmãos Jake e Elwood Blues (Os irmãos Cara-de-Pau segundo a imbecil tradução que nos tocou nessa parte do mundo) lotavam o Anfiteatro de Los Angeles abrindo o stand-up de Steve Martin.
Quando a quarta temporada do programa começou era comum ver o Danny nos sets da NBC com o roteiro do SNL e o rascunho do roteiro dos Blues Brothers que ele mesmo estava escrevendo, um em cada mão. John adorava o projeto tanto que investiu a sua poupança toda -uns cem mil- para gravar os shows do anfiteatro. “We’re the greatest fucking band in the world” dizia para quem quisesse ouvir e para quem não quisesse também. Com o início das filmagens chegou o fim da dupla no Saturday Night Live. Eles caíram fora antes da quinta temporada começar.
O filme, dirigido por John Landis e que hoje virou cult-movie, estourou o orçamento e ficou bem aquém das expectativas financeiras. A trilha sonora vendeu na época mais de um milhão e meio de discos.John tinha trinta anos e navegava entre o sucesso e o descontrole.
